Student Safety

At Jarrz Bar, we know that a great night out isn’t just about good music, affordable drinks, and great company—it’s about feeling safe, welcome, and supported every step of the way. That’s why we’ve made student safety one of our top priorities, ensuring SETU students and all our guests can relax and enjoy themselves in a secure, inclusive environment.

One of the key ways we do this is through our commitment to the Purple Flag Zone initiative. This international accreditation recognises areas that offer safe, well-managed nightlife, and we’re proud to be part of it. For students and visitors, it’s a reassurance that Jarrz is a place where fun and safety go hand in hand.

We also support the “Ask for Angela” campaign, which provides discreet help for anyone who feels uncomfortable or unsafe while on a night out. By simply asking a member of our team for Angela, students can get the assistance they need quickly and without fuss—whether that means a safe way home, separating from a situation, or just someone to talk to.

Convenience and safety continue even as you leave the bar. With a taxi rank less than 100 metres from our front door, you’ll never have to worry about long waits or unsafe walks home. Getting back to campus or student accommodation has never been easier.

Inclusivity is also at the heart of our mission. We proudly collaborate with local LGBT+ organisations such as Deise Pride and Deise Pride FC, ensuring our space is welcoming to all. We believe every customer – regardless of background, orientation, or identity – should feel comfortable and truly at home at Jarrz.

For SETU students, Jarrz isn’t just another bar; it’s a community hub where safety, inclusivity, and good times come together. When you choose Jarrz, you can focus on making memories, knowing we’ve got your back.
